SOS Environment Djibouti

SOS Environment Djibouti has been created in 2017 by a group a young activist to create awareness among the Djibouti society.

The 3 main objectives are sensibilisation and recycling /reuse the waste and planting the trees in Djibouti.

For that , we collaborate with a lot of Stakeholders public  and private sectors to achieve the goals.

Focus Area(s) of Work

Since more than 1 year, our focus area is plastic management which is a seriously impacting the environment in Djibouti. As Background, the plastic is given for free in the whole country and additional to that, it is produce locally. We have some NGO who are currently working on recycling the plastic bag into pavers.

As SOS environment, we have then changed our focus into managing the PET and for that we are developing projects around this topic. We are in discussion with several stakeholders (hotels, producers, recycling company ...etc ) to collect and recycle in order to avoid any PET to impact negatively the environment .

Method(s) Used to Achieve Objectives

With Djibouti being a small land, we are planning to have all the stakeholders to contribute in protecting the environment. The recycling company is already operating hence , our organisation will facilitate the collection of PET from all the partners in order to increase the volume of recycled plastic

This project will also create job opportunities which is a positive point.
