Screenshot-2025-12-30-144713 GMACC Conference 2025 Report

The first global GMACC Conference brought together civil society actors from across Africa, Latin America, MENA and Asia to explore how locally driven climate solutions can be strengthened through global collaboration.
Against the backdrop of accelerating climate impacts, biodiversity loss and food insecurity, the conference focused on breaking silos between sectors, regions and levels of action.
Through peer learning, thematic sessions and dialogue-based formats, participants shared practical experiences in biodiversity conservation, climate-resilient food systems, circular economy innovation and advocacy.
This conference report summarises key discussions and lessons from the GMACC Conference 2025 and seeks to support continued dialogue among actors working on locally driven climate and sustainability initiatives.

From Silos to Synergies: Strengthening Locally Driven Climate Action Through Global Collaboration

Key Outcomes:

  • Peer learning as a driver of scale: Locally led climate solutions become more effective and scalable when knowledge is shared horizontally – community to community, organisation to organisation – rather than through top-down approaches.
  • Breaking thematic silos: Integrating climate action, biodiversity conservation, food systems and social justice leads to more resilient and context-specific solutions.
  • Local ownership matters: Initiatives are most sustainable when communities are co-creators of solutions, not just beneficiaries.
  • Innovation rooted in practice: From agroforestry and climate-resilient farming to circular start-ups, locally adapted innovations can address both environmental and livelihood challenges.
  • Advocacy connects local and global: Effective advocacy translates grassroots realities into policy influence, media visibility and participation in international processes.
  • Networks enable continuity: Long-term platforms like the TH!NK GLOBAL Sustainability Network are essential for moving beyond isolated projects towards collective action.
